Great pics, thanks for posting! We visited the museum last summer..it's definitely worth a stop. Did you get any pics of the A-10 and F-16? They had a bunch of masking tape on them when we visited. Nice to see the Fort Getting some love. Looks like they're retaining the same basic markings..I wonder if she'll get some nose art?

I was surprised to see the museum's beautiful P-47N. I think that's the first fully restored long-wing Thunderbolt I've ever seen (I saw the one "onna stick" outside Peterson Field back in the 80s..but it was in serious need of attention.)

Indeed, thanks for posting these, it looks like a well cared for facility with forward looking staff and well maintained displays. Will the 17 be going back in the same scheme or a new one?

North and maybe slightly West of Destin, Florida.

It is on the Eglin campus.

Can't recall ever seeing a bad looking thud, just bad a$$!! I love the 'I can kill you several different ways in a second' looks of the 105 even when they are being dismembered in AAMRC.

The B-17 appears to have had some stripping done. When I saw her last summer the paint was a bit faded and the plexi somewhat fogged, but she looked OK for an outdoor display in a humid climate. Of course, I'd love to see her moved indoors and fully restored, along with the B-25, but at least she's still around and being cared for.

Here are some snapshots from last August.

Actually, Scott's pics are the more recent..looks like they've stripped off some of the paint for some corrosion control, particularly around the rivets. Nice to see an outdoor aircraft getting that kind of treatment..usually they just get another coat of paint slapped on.

Having grown up in North Florida, I can attest this is a crummy climate for outdoor preservation. Still, they've done a good job with the resources they have on hand. I've seen this museum in various configurations, including when it was still on the base in the 70s. Haven't seen the museum since I think 1996 but it doesn't look like much has changed since then. I'm heading back to the area in September and plan on hitting this and the new Infantry museum at FT Benning while I'm there...
