I am told that there are currently 8 CF-5Ds (or CF-116Ds if you prefer) stored outside the Aero Taxi hangar at Wilmington DE. All marks have been removed.
Does anyone have any clues as to their serials, or where they came from?
If I were a betting man I would go for Mountain View, as I show 8 aircraft still stored there as of last year.
Thanks,
Andy Marden

Dang! Talk about lousy timing. . . I was just there three weeks ago, with a camera, but I didn't know to look for them. I passed by the western perimeter of the airport but there was nothing interesting in view.

They may have something to do with the CF-5D's that were brought into the US over the past couple of years and returned to flight on the civilian market. I think the return to flight work was being done in St. Augustine, FL. There is still one of them listed with Courtesy. I believe that there was a significant number of them (12+) that were being brought in for the civilian market. I am not sure how much market is out there at $2.2m, but there are a few collectors with deep enough pockets to add one to their collection at that price.

Here's one. It never lived in Wilmington, though:

Interesting. Are they in a disassembled condition? I live just over an hour away.

Are these the ones that were once linked to Dale Snodgrass?
