1966 WAFB P-51D Mustang ID needed

Hi all
just received a 1966 slide of a P-51D taken at WAFB (Whiteman Air Force Base) - the unknown (to me at least) paint scheme makes this otherwise snapshot-quality photograph interesting to me.
Can anyone shed light into the identity of this bird ?
