Its been an exciting year for warbird restorations for sure. What restorations can we look forward to being finished in 2011? I know the one I'm looking forward to is the Memphis Belle but since that is still several years off I would like to hear what other projects are close to being wrapped up. Maybe 2011 will be the year the He 219 gets put back together again!

A few that immediately come to mind, all flying:

1) POF's P-59
2) Yagen's Mosquito
3) Rod Lewis's A-20
4) Collins foundations' A-36
5) Tobul's F4U-5

I know there are many, many others, but I can't think of them right now. Anyone?

Yes, sometime this year we expect Tobul's F4U-FOUR to come out of the restoration shop down in Colorado Springs....maybe sometime this year we might also see Del Smith's Zero emerge from Skurich's shop in Ft. Collins, but no guarantees...

I'd also suggest that Bob Jens's Mosquito (CF-HML) might take to the air again sometime in 2011. It'll be quite exciting to see two Mossies back in the skies. I wonder if they'll make an effort to get together for some formation work anytime soon.

Peace,

David

And with an original, airworthy, Sakae engine, to boot!

And thanks for the correction on the Corsair, it's a Dash 4, not Dash 5!

No problem...

How far away are we from the P-61 being ready to roll? Last I saw it was making phenomenal progress...

I think it's still a long ways off. It will be probably at least 3 to 5 years from the sound of it. Even the official website characterizes the work left as "several years".

Tantalizing promises/threats that FHC @ KPAE WILL finish the two seat A6M that's been glued in place to the floor for several years. :D :?
Hey N3N jeff, could you prompt the owner of one of those to do it in USCG markings? the pictures in the Coastie John photo posting sure would look cool if done in 3D and color instead of B&W and 2D

Anyone have an update on the six P-12 replicas being built in Nevada?

I hand spliced all the cables for the P-12s, not sure what stage the airframes are, but I think 3 of them were in the covering stage.
