looks like a Lockheed TV-2 in spite of the on camera assessment that 'it looks like an F-4'

I thought it might be one they dropped(quite literally!) in the woods down my way about 15-20 years ago when chopper ferrying from Lakehurts to KVAY in Lumberton, to the Air Victory Museum, but it is about 2 1/2 hours or more north of there...

I think that one was a Valkerie, IIRC. It started oscillating or spinning under the chopper from the rotor blast, so they cut her away over the Wharton State Forest in Woodland Township, and it fell straight down and landed on a back road. Not sure what happened form there, tho. Probably just scrapped her right out.

Of course there was an F-4 Phantom which augered in from low altitude on a training run to Willow Grove Bombing Range near Tuckerton back in the mid '80s. Right off Rt 72 near a Superfund site from Rohm & Haas. About 1/2 mile back in the woods. Pilot annd Rear Seater made good ejections, and the plane made about a 20'deep divot about 20 feet wide. Had some fun treasure hunting the hold- got some 20MM training rounds(got rid of those years ago) and some various and sundry junk. The remains of the airframe had already been pulled by the USAF before I got there... The spotlight trailer they left on scene was tempting though. BUUUT I left it where it was. Scavenging is one thing- outright theft is another!

This is a T2V-1 seastar, crashed in the late 60's. actually a pretty rare machine now....I have only seen 2-3 in any museums collections,etc.....1 at pima, maybe one at amarc still and perhaps 1 in pensacola?
If you look up abandoned stuff in new jersey area you should find some older pics of it....kind of looks like someone's been making off with parts.....if I recall right, the tail section used to be much more intact.
