Does anyone know the serial of the Dyess-based B-47 that crashed
on Emigrant Peak, MT on July 23, 1962?

Alexander's book on B-47 crashes lists it as "52-390 " but 52-0390 is also listed as having crashed at the Des Moines, IA airport on 19 July 1962.
One is obviously wrong...

The serial might be listed at the Memorial Wall at the Dyess visitors center/museum opened in 1997.
While at Dyess, I met the widow of the pilot, who traveled some distance to attend a reunion. Since then, I've always wanted to learn more about the crash.
She never remarried, and meeting her and knowing she still mourned her husband and was interested in the Wing after 35 years really made an impression on me.

Here's an article on the crash.
