i've talked to him on & off over the past few years, & we spent a day together showing him the warbird goodies in my area, but yes he's fallen off the wix radar. i feel he lurks mostly now as he has related that he has been pretty much put off by some of the petty sniping & bickering. a great guy, wish he'd surface as well.

If he reads this, I hope he will stop by the WOH autograph tent and say hi again.

It would be a loss if Tulio were to stay away. He often made a trenchant comment and usually had a unique insight to contribute.

Wanted back, IMHO.

At the risk of stating the obvious, has anyone sent him a PM?

I won't presume to speak for Tulio beyond saying that he is alive and well and has his own reasons for his absence. I have made him aware of this thread.

cheers
Doug

You folks may or may not know it but we have lost several good members here because of the petty crap that that does indeed rear it's ugly head on this forum....

Sad deal for sure....

Pity, apparently the LAAHS website he helped manage for 13 years was closed down in March as well.

I don't recall any "petty crap" but it may just be on posts, the title of which, didn't attract me and I didn't read 'em.
There are posts, the subject of which, doesn't interest me and I go to the next post without reading beyond the first couple of responses.

That said, The are titles that attract me and and the subject doesn't. Conversely, there are subjects that attract me where the title might not have jumped out at me.
I try to make my titles somewhat "titillating". and youse troops, usually, respond politely.
Admittedly, there are members here who's posts I never read. But only a couple, who shall remain unnamed.

Mudge the selectively titillating

I really enjoyed the photos Tulio posted as he seemed to do quite a bit of traveling around the country to places I've never been (and probably would never get to).

Hopefully he'll come back soon!

I enjoyed his posts too. I think WIX has been good lately but maybe I missed something. :|

Oh yes, there was a very bad time during the "dark ages" of WIX, when the Mods did not enforce the rules here. I can recall at least 3 perpetrators in the past who levied personal threats against other WIX members. Fortunately, they were all banned for life. That, plus all of the conflict, caused us to lose several key members. Unfortunately Tulio was a casualty of that, because he and several others didn't want to put up with the B.S. that went on here. I'm happy to say, that the Mods have done a much, much better job at keeping things civil on this forum! Great job guys! Now, everyone knows why it is so VITALLY important to "nip things in the bud" when people first start to act out of control. If you don't enforce the rules or selectively enforce the rules, as had been the case here in the past, then anarchy will ensue and people will leave. Thankfully, things seem to be back to normal and this is really an enjoyable forum now! If we can only keep it that way...........

I forgot to say that I too miss Tulio, as I always enjoyed his postings. Anytime I had a question on anything aviation related in Latin America, I knew Tulio was our resident expert and he could always find out an answer. It's sad that we lost our Central/South American expert on warbirds. This forum is less because of his absence, IMO. :(

Thank you, guys.

Thank you Doug [MachHarvard] for letting me know about this thread, thank you John Bell, for asking.

As it has been pointed out, there have been too many incidents here, where the pettiness and simple downright attitude of some people, finally pushed me to stop caring about my participating here. Having had some health issues did not help the situation at all.

The main reason though, was that I realized, that I was becoming more and more, like those people whose attitudes I did not like, and decided to stop participating; I was arguing and posting, without checking my facts first and that made me as guilty as anyone else, of what I disliked about some attitudes on the forums.

I am no fan of long and protracted farewells; I came to this site quietly, and decided to leave the same way.

I do appreciate your kind words and opinions about this humble servant of yours; maybe in the future, I will feel inclined to participate again.

My best regards to you.

Tulio

Tulio isn't the only one... I'll be honest, I'm spending a LOT less time here lately. Don't know if it's just me, but a number of the subjects don't seem as interesting right now and a lot of guys who's threads I would've opened even if I didn't know I was interested in them aren't posting as much. Maybe, it's also 'cause I'm actually getting my hands dirty in the aviation world instead of sitting in front of a computer. :D
