Probably the same guy that gave us a bunch for the 24 and 17. It worked out because an exiting passenger used ours as a "handle" and broke it clean off. The story went that the previous owner of the house bought used them to make a fence.

They are F-10 fairlead tubes. Part of SCR-287 liaison radio set on B-17 and other liaison sets on other airframes. Used to pass trailing wire HF antenna element through fuselage and keep it away from airplane when wire was deployed. On B-17, was located just aft of ball turret on port side lower fuselage. Sticks out at a slight outward and back angle. Wire antenna element had big lead weight ("bomber egg") on end of wire to prevent whipping. When wire element was pulled in, the egg nestled up into the cast metal fitting seen at ends of tubes in Dave's photo.

Dean the radio guy

Were they used on the B-25 as well? I know it had a trailing wire.
