From my quick scan of Mike's list, he is missing a couple of Spitfires. NH749 at Camarillo Ca with the CAF as well as MJ627 at the EAA Museum( which is destined to go somewhere else) It will all soon be in the book !!

A forthcoming book on all the Spitfire survivors is eagerly awaited by the warbird crowd.

Hi Pat. Check this file out. Not sure quite how current, but must be fairly so, as Bill Greenwoods is listed as under repair. Hope this is of some help.

Ah! MJ772 but with the paperwork of MJ627! ...and recently corrected to the satisfaction of the FAA.

That list is just the flying Spitfires of the world and correct up to April 2010.

One more since then of course and I am due to up date the list.

I don't suppose there is too much interest in Spitfires in the USA but the first Volume of Surviving Spitfires, Mks I - XII, is at final proofing stage and is due for launch this Autumn. Volume II Mks XIV - Seafire 47 plus the substantial appendix should be ready by mid 2011. In all, heading for about 1200 pages to cover the 276 entries with about 1,800 images in a 'then and now' format.

It has been quite a long haul for the compilers. :)

Thanks. Mike must be having some problems with his site because I could not get his link to open.

There is definitely interest from me, Peter! We have long needed a definitive source on all the world's surviving Spits. Thank you for your efforts in helping that goal. I look forward to getting a copy whenever it comes out.

I've flown in the back of TE-308 with Bill, and attempted to buy MK XI PA908 in the 1980's (missed it by "that" much). :( I have great deal of interest in Spitfires. I also have the first two versions of "Spitfire Survivors".

The spars were almost rotted through in places...& one of the wings had been "run through" with a forklift
