51-9486 has been on display in Artesia for at lead 35 years. As a kid I remember it sitting on the ground, but sometime in the last few years it has been moved to a pole. Unfortunately like so many aircraft displayed outdoors it is starting to show signs of "cancer". The underside of the right horizontal has a serious hole.

These shots were taken a couple of weeks ago.

When I first saw it, it about 40 years ago. Someone had shot a hole through the original canopy.

I sure wish I had the funding (and an aircraft  ) to restore one of these old girls to airworthy. I grew up with several F/RF-84s on display fairly close to my hometown and have always admired the design.

Thanks for the photos!

Yep, a ground lover for certain. I'd settle for a straight wing version if I couldn't find enough runway for an F!
