Gotta love those shots. I put that Aeroshell shot up as my desktop background. Thanks for sharing. 8)

Hey Ollie,

Nice shooting. The place is so darn big I did not see you once.

Thanks guys.

Eric, if you couldn't find me at a tiny venue like Huronia, I had no hopes of seeing you at Oshkosh...
:P

Well, Eric, inquiring minds want to know...

You being the well-traveled, airshow photographer...

What are your impressions of Airventure?

Is an entire week of warbirds, classics, antiques, seaplanes, etc. simply too much?

How was the hospitality level in Oshkosh? In Wisconsin in general?

I have to say I waited a long time to go to Oshkosh. I wanted to do it right and go for the week not just a few days. Monday, my wife and I found it overwhelming. Too much to see, too many people and by the end of the day we were so tired and worn out we went to the Seaplane Base on the Tuesday. Mind you we stayed until sunset to see Chicago. What contrast the Seaplane Base is compared to Oshkosh. Relaxing, nice shade and small.

Wednesday we hooked up with Rich Kolasa and he told us about the tram and that made it much easier to get around. By Thursday we were in a groove. Mornings in the Warbird area and afternoon and airshows down by the C-185s for shade and to shoot the show.

For such a big show I found it took on a small show feel for us once we found the little café’s all over the place. AeroShell Square and the vendor area I felt were like a downtown area and the warbird, vintage, ultralight areas were the suburbs which is where we preferred to hang out. What impressed us most was the lack of lineups for food, washrooms and even getting in and out of the event. We were very impressed.

Sunday morning as we were packing to go home my wife asked if we could go back, I was shocked! After six days at an airshow I never dreamed she would ask to go back on the seventh day. I was actually surprised we were still married after six days in a row at Oshkosh.

We both suffered post Oshkosh depression the following week and are now making plans to go back. It’s funny when I talked to people how they say how many years in a row they have been going to Oshkosh. Now I know why they keep going back. It became a way of life for us for the week and a great escape from reality. I took 10,055 images and will be going over them for months to come.

Eric

Glad to hear that both you and your better half enjoyed yourselves.

Was looking forward to meeting you both at Zack's place; perhaps in 2011.

Ya, did some damage to my knee then I got bit in the ankle from some bugs on the flight line and started to swell. Since my wife doesn’t drive we thought we better get back to the hotel. Benadryl and driving did not sound like a good idea. Only thing we did wrong was not getting closer accommodations. The whole week we stayed in Germantown and drove one hour each way everyday.

I was really looking forward to the party and meeting more wix personalities.
