Question about P2V landing weight

Fri Mar 11, 2011 8:13 pm

Seen a Neptune flyby on its way to Abilene and way off in the distance(I was watching with binoculars) he dumps his load and does a 180 and then continues on. I assume he had to dump it cause he couldn't land with the load?
Mr Krouse(spell???)
Just thought it was cool seeing the load come out

Landing would not be the issue. This is not a commercial airliner. In a Neptune dumping the load means a lighter aircraft period if they have a problem and are returning. Lighter weight means increased performance.
