Shuttleworth Collection Evening Air Display 17th July 2010

Prior to the show the weather forecast wasn't looking great but it turned out much better than we'd hoped for - to the piont where it was good enough for the Edwardians to perambulate around the firmament as it got dark.

All in all, a wonderful show with the return of the dH.53 being a particular high point for me. This show also saw the formation debut of the two Chilton DW.1s which was also Clare Tector's formation display debut (with Anna Walker). Well done ladies, it was a great display that demonstrated what beautiful aeroplanes the Chiltons are - and very nippy too.

A special thanks needs to go to those who stayed behind after the show to put the aeroplanes away. This is a task that many of the public don't see as they're making their way home, but after evening shows it's often very late by the time the Collection staff and volunteers get home. Thanks.

Here's a selection of photos from a memorable evening. I make no apologies for multiple shots of the same aeroplanes, they were a joy to take and hopefully they'll be a joy to share.

As usual, higher resolution versions of these photos and others from the show can be found in my Flickr Album

I've not finished processing all of my photos yet so I'll add some more when I've finished.

What a sweet aircraft that Miles Hawk Speed Six is - it would be nice if there were more around.

Excellent photos Robbo, I have greatly enjoyed viewing them very much!

I agree, but it's not for the claustrophobic though, John. There's very little room under the canopy.

Glorious aeroplanes and marvelous photos as always Robbo... I almost feel like I was there. Would so loved to have seen the three-shop of Hind-Demon-Gladiator in person. Marvelous!

Thanks again,
Richard
