On Craigslist,....they got everything. :D

The ad says 1/4 scale but I have to imagine that is either a 1/2 or 2/3 scale replica. Similar to the W.A.R. aircraft.

I'd say it has to be bigger than 1/4 scale too. Generally a 1/4 scale R/C Mustang has somewhere in the area of a 100cc engine or less, this one has a 650 Honda motorcycle engine. Even with a 100cc single cylinder engine you usually can't get it fully enclosed in a 1/4 scale cowl. You can't see the right side in these pictures but that engine sounds too huge to fit in a 1/4 scale plane.

I happen to be designing a 1/4 scale Mustang (for R/C) right now and there is no way you're getting a human pilot aboard one at that scale! I would say 1/2 scale would be the absolute minimum for a man carrying replica and this one is probably more like 3/4 scale or bigger if it's got 650 ponies under the hood.

I'm pretty sure that the "650 Honda motorcycle engine" means 650 cc rather than 650 hp.

OR it's really kick ass engine. I think the F1 guys are almost making 1 HP per cc. :D

650cc Honda engine doesn't sound like a lot, and the smallest replica I've seen of a Mustang was based on a Rand KR1 - though still with the VW engine, making for a fugly engine cowling.

The dimensions of that one were 12ft long, with a 17ft wingspan.

Having said that, I don't doubt it's a proper bonafide replica, rather than an R/C model. The canopy looks sufficiently over-scale to suggest it was built for an actual pilot....

Hmm... I dunno, I don't think it's a Loehle job. The canopy is overscale, but on the Loehle (see pic) the there's still a lot of nose ahead of the canopy. On this one in the ad, there isn't (or at least doesn't seem to be).

I think I saw this at Oshkosh several years ago. If I remember correctly it was a one-off design and was called the hardware store mustang because hardware store materials were used in its construction to keep the cost down.
