Ghost picture on Kermit Weeks blog

Not sure if this is old news on here or not , but i was flipping through Kermits blog this morning and about halfway down the first page is a story about paranormal happenings at his museum. In particular i was somewhat .... well i'm not sure what it was, but the picture of the ghost image in the B-17 kinda creeped me out a bit. Just something strange about it.

I so lost interest in the ghost when I saw the Tempest V. Wow, I can't wait to see that!

I'll get back to the Ghost, thanks groundpounder for the link. I'll have to keep up on that blog.

What a treat, Bf-109e-1 and Tempest V dreams to keep me though the work day.

Edit: That ghost pict is strange to say the least.

What about the Tempest V, that would be sweet to see flying again. I have heard that they are handfull just to keep running. I can see Nelson Ezell doing the job after what he did with the Redbull P-38....

Doesn't sound like it will be flying in the near future, if ever. "Painted for static display" just doesn't do much for me. "with one day having the option of tackling the systems and the engine"...well, time flies my friend.

Yeah, if you look close, the "yellow mae west" sure looks more like the reflection of the O2 tank, since it doesnt seem to "wrap around" what would be the person's chest below his beard/stubble.

I agree that the yellow part is the oxygen tank reflecting, not a mae west. As for if this is really a ghost captured in a pic? That sure would be something! Have any other ghosts been photographed with such clarity? Seems that would be really a unique situation. It's almost too good a pic to even be considered plausible. Who knows?

C'mon, be fair. No-one has yet restored a Napier Sabre to airworthy use. The work being done on it is, according to Kermit, to airworthy, so won't need to be redone when a airworthy resto is done. No one else has got even this near, and Kermit's a) not 'just painting it up nice', nor, b) obstructing a future airworthy restoration by inappropriate static-quality work. It is also undergoing restoration, unlike many other aircraft.

I'd like to see a Napier Sabre engine aircraft fly, but I don't see being critical of our current best offer is going to help.

Just my 2c, because I don't have all that oil money to make it happen.

My late neighbour used to be a fairly senior RAF powerplant technician, and worked on Napier Sabres with Typhoon squadrons from 1943 onwards.
He often told of the constant need for repeated overnight engine warmups to keep the oil from setting etc., but one thing will always stick in my mind:

"That bloody engine was like a bumble bee. It shouldn't physically be able to fly, but it bloody well did.... as long as you could get it to start in the first place, without it seizing solid or catching fire.."

Right to the end of his life he always wished he could hear one again.
