I had the honour of meeting a WWII US Army Air Corps veteran. What really amazed me is that he is 94, still holds a 1st class medical and is still teaching as a Flight Instructor.

I was in Jacksonville, FL doing a CFI refresher coarse and in the back of the class was this WWII US Army Air Corps veteran. I was able to talk to him and he amazed me with what he had to say as to flying back in WWII. He had been an instructor flying BT-13's, served in England flying planes around. He had great love for the B-17 as he said it was great plane to fly in and very easy to fly. He spoke of other planes such as the B-24's and my favour the UC 64 Norseman. He had all kinds of stories and insight into these planes. Also insight into being an instructor today and said he is still learning. After the war he was a crop duster. Once I get my Stearman back into the air, I will offer him a chance to again fly in a PT-17 Stearman.
