Meanwhile, at the secret rebel airbase in downtown St. Louis

The rebel air force's first F-105 is nearly complete. Soon to be joined by "The Frito Bandito", when they can find some landing gear for it that is. :D

Funny how much the nose looks like a Hun without the cone!

The rebel commander had already gone home for the day when I stopped by on my way back from the turret parts scrap yard. I'm headed back down that way on Tuesday so I'll take some more photos of this Thud as well as the other one. Here are two more shots, sorry for the poor quality.

Part of the other F-105 is sticking out from behind the F-86D partial fuselage. These planes were purchased many years ago, before our Government required that these types of aircraft be "totally destroyed" before salvage. As taxpayers and as people interested in historical preservation we really should be outraged by this policy. I know you can't save them all but really, how much of a threat to our national security does a static "Century Series" fighter pose? :?

Thanks astixjr. There are two Thuds there  ? Please do post more after your visit Tuesday. I'd love to see some close-up shots of all the birds in that yard.

So, is this a private collection or a museum?
