B-17 Evergreen

Two photos of Evergreens B-17 sitting at Marana, AZ in Dec.1986. It is starting the process of being restored to the bomber configuration. I'm guessing it is now at the Evergreen Aviation Museum, McMinnville, OR.

That was one of the better looking fire B-17s of its day.
It had a nice nose cap (that you can see in the photos) and a nice paint scheme, a bit of a change from some of them that had natural metal finishes.
I saw it on the line in Idaho, at Couer d'Alene. in 1980.

That S-64 Skycrane is just about as rare.

Mmm, not quite. Evergreen still operates the S-64E and Erickson Air Crane manufactures them. They're used by them, and other companies, quite often in the firefighting role.

This one's a bit large...

Sikorsky sold the type certificate to Erickson sky crane. They build new ones.
