"One a day in Tampa Bay"

Fri Mar 12, 2010 7:09 pm

We have all heard this expression before regarding the frequency with which the B-26 Maruader was crashing into Tampa Bay during training in WW2. My question, are there any B-26's still in Tampa Bay?

Over on the wreckchasers board (see link), this has been discussed, seems a total of 7 B-26s and one B-29, one B-17, 3 A-24s, several P-40's went down in the bay. The Bay is mostly shallow so all big chunks would have been salvaged back then. Lot of good info there.
