Sad day with a silver lining

Tue Feb 23, 2010 7:51 pm

Well, I did it, I sold our museum's 3 Hueys. Hueys my father and I put blood sweat and tears into. I had nowhere near the money to get them flying again. So I found a loving home. I look forward to them flying again, maybe I can trade some stick time. I still wake up wondering if I've done the right thing.

On the plus side, I'm looking for something new.......

i'm sorry tom, i enjoyed looking at them on trips to norwalk when they were outside. i know they meant alot to your dad, it must have been rough to do but necessary in this economy, especially up here. what is the disposition of the cobra & other items in the collection?? let's get together for a few beers, my treat. i have your number, if you don't have mine i'll pm it to you. no pun intended, but you had to part with the family jewels, i know it hurts. please call or pm me.

Everything else stays for now.

I hate to say it, but I've never quite caught the name and location of the museum. Would you share it with us again?

As I understand it there were two locations...

ImageAerial Visuals - Location Dossier - Firelands Museum of Military History - Armour Collection

ImageAerial Visuals - Location Dossier - Firelands Museum of Military History - Active Collection

So if I understand it correctly... between the two sites all three UH-1s have left? Can you share where they have gone?

Tom, I know that must be tough for you to part with the Huey's. I guess the main thing is that they are with someone that can keep them going, & as a former helicopter mech, I know it takes a lot to keep a fling wing airworthy. Hang in there man. Take Care
