From The News Tribune ~ Washington State comes this item ....

"World War II may be long over but it’s not too late to be on a B-17 crew. The Museum of Flight at Boeing Field is offering a weekend “ground school” that will include a flight on a B-17 Flying Fortress.

The course on May 19 and 20 covers design, construction, operation and performance of the aircraft. Particpants will be able to climb inside the Museum’s Flying Fortress, led by their restoration team.

The course also includes a flight in the Experimental Aircraft Association’s B-17, Aluminum Overcast, while it’s at the museum May 25 through 28. The class is limited to 20 and the fee is $750"

I wish I could afford the trans-Atlantic air fare to pop over for the weekend

Historic Flight @ KPAE has done this for a couple of years with 'GRUMPY' and now with the T-6, so MoF must see an opportunity here too, it is a great way to be allowed to get elbows deep in an airplane and learn some of the inner secrets of a particular airplane beyond just looking at the outside in the display hall.
It's something other collections might want to follow as a way to attract more interest and revenue. During Winter maintenance would be a good time to get folks in during a normally slow period to hold a 'Ground School Class.'
