Why were the engines replaced? I didn't think any of the 262 replica's had been around that long to warrant replacing the engines. Did they suffer from FOD or something?

The original engines were nonpapered J-85s. Yes, at least one of them exhibited evidence of previous FOD damage.

The aircraft now has CJ610-8As, with records, and current hot sections installed.

Guess they did what they had to do to get that 1st one up.

I see that the engines have a D-ring pull in the nacelles. Do these replicas have the 10HP starter motor on board and do they function as they were originally designed? Is that the noise that is being heard at the beginning of the vid?

The Me262 is a beautifully lethal Venus Di Milo.

The D-ring in the inlet of the replica is just for looks, no 2 stroke motor installed. The engine noise in the video before the turbine starts is the GPU running.
