I know, but it wouldn't be fair for me to ruin the quiz.

Ewww.... That must've been fun up front.

It's part of the HP Compressor of the #1 engine that has been blown into the aft shroud of the #2.

My guess: Is it the jet engine installation on the B-29M?

Ummmm......I believe that is a portion of a turbine hub from a GE CF6-80 on a Boeing 767. :)
It makes life exciting when the turbine hub in the left engine comes apart at high power and a piece of it ends up embedded in the tail pipe of the right engine!
(by the way, the plane was scrapped due to the damage)

There is something to learn from that incident. The thing let go during a power run on the ground. I admit freely that I had become a bit complacent when it came to being in close proximity to big jet engines on the blast fence. I won't do so ever again after seeing that deal.

CF6-80A with a part from the other engine. I'm going to have to do better to stump you folks.

Here's the donor engine.

I guess I mis-understood the quiz.
I thought the Quiz' title was about B-29's. That's why I mentioned the B-29 M which was a test version with a turbo jet hanging out of the bomb bay.
I guess I'm just stupid!
