Any idea what this part is????

Hello all,

I have two Air Ministry Type AS-4 ??????? with part No. P104078. They appear to be either a distributor unit or magneto but i could be wrong, on the drive end there is a sprocket, and points on the opposite end. It has four wires coming out of it which appear to be old ignition wires.

Hi Pat,

A picture would be good. Sounds like it might be a starting magneto, some were chain driven (on the Avro Anson for instance), they supplied a shower of sparks to the main magnetos on starting.
