A friend of mine is the airshow coordinator for the 27-28 March 2010 Maxwell AFB, AL Airshow. He's specifically looking for Warbirds to attend and hopes to have a focus on Vietnam aviation. He tells me he has a budget and, if he and the interested party can agree on a fee, then he'll sign them up. The AF apparently realizes that no one can show up for free.

So, if you're interested or can pass this along to friends who might be, let's get some Warbirds to Montgomery.

Contact: Lt Col Doran Gillie, doran.gillie1@maxwell.af.mil

Thanks in advance!
Ken

Hey, thanks for the heads up. I'll see if they want my O-2A over there.

Which dates are correct? Their site indicates April 10-11, 2010.

I just sent an E-mail off. I'll post the correct dates as soon as I hear back.

Funny thing, the base Public Affairs people don't know anything about an airshow. I guess they don't need to know.

The LTC is out of the office today, but I expect to talk to him tomorrow. I spoke with a SGT in his office who said it was his understanding that the air show date had been moved up to the MAR date. The web folks are probably just a little behind. As soon as I get the word from him, I'll post it.

It would be nice if I could bring the U-11A to play with DZ's O-2A! Heck DZ, we can fly formation. I'll pull the power back for ya! :D

Unfortunately, Paul, you aren't in the same league when it comes to ridding the world of excess fossil fuel ! I know you do your best, but, well,....

Rick,

Love those Collings jets! I hope to add a Sabre to the stable in the next few years, and if that happens, I'll be happy to lag well behind the CF jets in fuel burn! Would love to fly the wing on either of those airplanes one day!!

For anyone hoping to hop rides - don't forget that the Montgomery Regional Airport (KMGM) is only a :15 drive from Maxwell AFB (KMXF).

Just had this reply from Lt Col Doran Gillie at Maxwell in reference to the date of their show:

"We changed our dates to 27-28 Mar to chase the Thunderbirds."

If you're still looking for airplanes to invite, check out Warbird Depot. That'd be a good place to start...

I wanted to bump this one more time. If you can circulate word to any warbird or show act who might be interested in attending, I'd appreciate the help. I got the impression that the bidding process will end within the next couple weeks.
