P-51 in Operation Torch

Greetings all,

as I know there was some topic regard to the use of P-51 in operation Torch but I can not find them. Any help or suggestion?

A bit to early and just Naval aircraft if I'm not mistaken.
Don't let the yellow surrounding the insignia fool you.

Good point about yellow border! My basic impression is that this border is related to this operation but this is not always the case.

IIRC Something like 70 P-40s were there, but had to wait until an airfield was taken as they could not land back on the carrier.

On 10 Nov 1942, 72 P-40F fighters of the 58FS/33FG launched off of the aircraft carrier USS Chenango and landed at the captured airfield at Port Lyautey, French Morocco. One 33FG P-40F was involved in a fatal accident at Norfolk, Virginia, on 21 Oct 42 while en route to shipping out on the carrier.

I think that I have some images of the P-51 on carrier board but they are not early version.
