Anyone have a name/email of the current historian at these ANG units?
I am seeking any photos of 44-73656, as it was assigned to these units at one time.
Thx in advance,
VL

Well a few years back, okay maybe it was a few decades back, I was in the AF, actually Texas ANG.

I was helping W keep the world safe from invasion by the Bahamas. You can see we did a great job, not a single sailboat got inside the Houston ship channel. They did not have any Mustangs left by then. I was just a mech, Sgt. I do recall them mentioning me going to Officers Training School and I wasn't really interested. I knew I was not going to make the military my career, they were a little short of cute girls and I had been spoiled on that score by being at the University of Texas. Whatever jets they had did not make much of an impression on me, and of course, I was not too anxious to "Fly the unfriendly skies" of SE Asia. I have wondered what might have happened if they had had a some nice P-51Hs to lure me in. I still suspect the lack of girls might have been a deciding factor. But if I could only have flown on weekends and stayed home, who knows.

There are or at least was a TANG unit based at Ellington where Rick and the Collings diesel burners are. Perhaps he can come up with a contact. My friend Harry Glauser was a pilot in the TANG, back then, same unit as W. I don't have a phone number for him in the Houston area. I do know he owns an L-39, think he is probably an EAA member.

We have some snow, have you any ski plans?

Good luck, Bill.

Thx for the invite , Bill. But... too much work & (kids) homework. I play catch up during the 'off' air show season.
