Someone mentioned a few weeks ago that the tv show COLD CASE was being filmed in southern California...well, in an episode coming on next sunday night Nov 1, entitled 'Fly Girls', you all may want to tune in, they just showed the previews tonight after tonight's episode and I distinctly saw the Air Museum's razorback P-47 taxiing and an in hangar shot of the Bell P-59...should be fun!

Except "Tailspin" was last night (Sunday) featuring the Planes of Fame aircraft. I'll have to watch it today on the DVR since I'm not up that late.

Hmmm..there is some confusion with the tv schedule and the title. Looking at an online episode guide,
last nights episode was titled "Soul Killer" but mislabeled in the print TV guide as "WASP". What 166b is calling "Flygirls",
according to the online episode guide...is titled "WASP". "WASP" was at one point, titled "Tailspin" according to
an online source at the tv.com.
It's possible "WASP"/ "Tailspin", was also at one point tentively titled "Flygirls"....regardless, "WASP is
the episode to play next week with the subject your thinking of 166b...ummm, I think!
EDIT
A football game reschedule, I believe, caused the mixup in what last nights tv guide said that episode
was..I watched it too.

Mark, you are vindicated! If you go to cbs.com to the Cold Case section there is a clip of the episode we're
interested in. It's titled "WASP" to play Nov. 1, but when the trailer starts it begins with the title "Fly Girls".
No wonder CBS has so much trouble these days, they can't decide what to name an episode...much less where to
schedule them in search of ratings, etc.

So I guess that whatever is on my DVR I can delete... It was called "Tailspin" when I set it up.
I'll add this to the list as another good reason I don't watch much broadcast TV.

Bump, just a reminder or alert if you missed the headzup earlier.

Whatever it's called....I'm watching it now. Not to spoil the plot, just a technical detail, but CAN one "switch" the oil and coolant lines on a P-51 and if they did could it even take off before the engine grenaded?
Sun Nov 01, 2009 11:29 pm
.....and are they trying to pass off the B-25 as the B-26 'widowmaker' or is it just me? So far the warbird count is 2 P-51's, P-47 B-25, Stearman, and the Bell P-59 is lookin' sharp!

I'm impressed that they had a 4th FG-marked Mustang with invasion stripes in the US the week before D-Day.

Well, we did get to see real warbirds on TV, a little more flying would have been nice!! Alas, it was a TV show with a TV budget and Hollywood writters. Didn't really expect more of them did we?

Just like "Amelia", I had hoped for better but what the heck anytime you get to see warbirds...... It was
looselybased on a couple of actual incidents concerning the WAFS/WASP program. I agree, however, she wouldn't have gotten very far with the oil/coolant lines crossed. Best watched after a strong Martini or several beers.

Wasn't there also a P-38 in one quick scene? I also enjoyed the opening scene where you can see the mountains of Delaware in the background!
