From Blake Smith I read "from a Russian source of a Bell P-39 Airacobra being rebuilt at the Russian city of Novosibirsk in the late 1980s. This P-39 was recovered from Siberia where it was discovered in the early 1980s. Apparently this P-39 was being delivered over the ALSIB Route when the pilot bailed out due to mechanical failure and the aircraft crashed. The aircraft was rebuildable with modern know-how and it is seen here at Novosibirsk. The Soviet pilot 's remains were said to be next to the aircraft and one can speculate that the pilot, after bailing out, located the crash site and stayed with the plane on the hope that rescuers might have a better chance of spotting him if he was with the aircraft wreckage...a wait that took more than 40 years. The city of Novosibirsk is the birthplace of the famous Soviet WWII ace Alexander Pokryshkin and it was rumored that this aircraft was being restored to represent the P-39 that he had flown during WWII.'
Now........does anyone Ka-No anything about this?
