This morning at about 0830 I heard multiple airplanes over Carefree. There were two groups of five, all appeared to be the same type, which I could not identify. At least two had German markings, one was bright red, and most were camo'd. Anyone one know who and what they are? Thanks, Kerry

I don't know anything for sure but we seem to have a plethora of Nanchangs around town and could certainly see a flight of 10 as a possibility. Most of the ones I've seen are brightly painted or in camo so that fits. However, I've not ever seen any in German markings. Were they radials?

Any chance it could be the RV Formation Squadron? http://www.rvformation.com/

The web site for the piaggios had some pictures that looked like the a/c that I saw. In it, a couple are German marked and a couple with bright red noses. The tail surfaces look the same and the upswept fuselage behind the wing. I wonder what they were up to? (About 5000 feet, actually). I didn't say in the OP, but they made three big circles before heading off to the east. Thanks for the suggestions, Kerry
