Hello guys. Trying to help a guy who is trying to help a guy .....

Crash site found in Europe, not much left but tiny pieces, and trying to figure out the plane, or at least type....

Only recognizable part is a Weatherhead. Co. " liquid line " with a part number AN 6260 - 8D - 16 ....... unknown to me if coolant, fuel, etc.

Anybody have a cross reference manual that tells what aircraft ( or plural ) this part may have been used on ?

AN6260 HOSE ASSEMBLY - DETACHABLE END FITTING TYPE, SWIVEL FITTINGS, 3 BRAIDED HYDRAULIC

Cancelled 2 Dec 1953, replaced with MS28741.

-8D is aluminum alloy and is used with 1/2" outside diameter tubing hydraulic systems, 16" in length. Consists of an assembly with AN787 and AN792 fittings with "hose conforming to procurement specification."

Chances are there were dozens of different aircraft applications for a 16" long flex hose assembly of this type.

Can you identify any structure with part numbers or inspection stamps on them? That would help better identify the aircraft.

From what I'm told, this part is the only thing found with any sort of number. From the description I've heard of the site, it was most likely a crashed plane that was salvaged by the Germans ..... only things left are very small pieces and shards of aluminum, etc.
