Mustangdriver's move --yes warbird related!

Thu Sep 17, 2009 10:35 am

Hey guys, I am moving from Pittsburgh to the Indianapolis area, actually about an hour north of indy. I just was hired as an ATC in EKM tower. We have two runways there, and I noticed a third grass runway. When I asked about it, I was told that there is a Stearman, and a T-6 based there that like to use it. Does anyone know who this is, or what aircraft to expect seeing? Thanks.

Elkhart is a good bit farther north of Indy than an hour....more like 2-2.5 to EKM if you are driving...

That Stearman and T-6 probably belong to Chuck Marshall. Used to be quite a number of warbirds back in the day when Ray Stutsman had his place at EKM.

If my map reading skills are still working, it looks like a much shorter trip to the Warbird Mecca! Good luck with the new job.

Thanks guys, the staff is great, and the field is a tru General Aviation field. A mix of cessnas and pipers, with warbirds and a few corporate. I love all forms of aviation, so this is sor of my dream job. I will be living about an hour north of indy so I have about an hour and ahlf drive, but I can handle that. Gives me time to unwind. I will be closer to Dayton, only about 2 hours away, even a little less. And only about 40 minutes from Grissom.

Sounds like a pretty good time. Congrats!!!
