That would be cool to see one of those birds fly, even if it is a repro! Hope they get better than the original 6-12 hours on an engine between overhauls!!!! That would make it a VERY expensive toy to maintain!

Its still at Ione with Sanders. The plan is to debut the airplane at Moffett then continue on for the rest of the tour with the bombers. This is the tentative plan as they are still putting it back together. There was/is ALOT of work done to the airframe and it takes time. Our initial intentions were to debut her at Dallas...BUT like everything in aviation, hurry up and wait.

The engines are(I believe) GE (same as Cessna Citation?) Junkers-Jumo would have been interesting but a maintainance nightmare. 262crew was, or is working on the 262 and he would be more able to give you particulars.

Hey Jim, the bombers usually stop by Pittsburgh in the fall. Do you thik there is a chance of seeing the 262 in the burgh, or is that outside of the safety range of the 262?

Doesn't this airplane have the CJ610 (learjet)? The early Citations had Pratts. I flew a Lear 24 and at max t/o (13,500 +/-), it was a performer. I can only imagine that this airplane will be a real hotrod with those engines. :D

The fall schedule isn't finalized but we normally do Pittsburg. The minimum runway length for the jet I think is around 5000'...let me say again, I think. This is going to limit the number of smaller airport stops that we do normally. Yes they are Lear engines, Rick Harris is more in tune with that end of it, I am a recip guy just trying to help out here. We are very very excited about this airplane. Its dual controlled and available for dual with an instructor endorsement. How cool is it to get Me 262 in your logbook? Stay tuned.

They are CJ610s. RickH would know the exact dash number. The starting system is identical to the Lear including self-start. And IIRC, the throttles are being detented to show how the original 004 engines performed. Like JimH said, RickH is the guy to get the info from.

Would it be possible to install a drag chute set up so it could land at smaller fields?

No drag chute...the bomber minimum us 4000' so it will only limit certain areas. We are going to use larger airports near cities we normally used the smaller ones. Keep your eyes on the schedule.
