Very nice museum, I do like the Kingfisher, I don't think I knew about that one.

Thats a nice looking PBY. Very clean. It looks like they have a nice collection.

I also second the comment that the PBY looks great!
Do you know if any are flyable?
And also, in the picture that shows a spitfire hanging from the ceiling, I imagine that's a replica, right? The canopy just doesn't look right. Are any of the others replicas, or am I totally wrong on the Spit being a replica in the first place?

Ya, the Spit don't look right to me either. The wings look too thick and the canopy is just funny looking.... Kinda reminds me of those used on the fake P-40's in the movie "Flying Tigers".

Spit?????wheres the spit???? I HAD to look six times through the pic, then finally noticed it in the corner..........but of course it would be in the pic that a majority showed that BEAUTIFUL wing of that VERY RARE N3N-1!!!
Seen pics of the airplane before but I would love to know how she got all the way there???? As far as I know, there are none in the states.

Yeah..the Battleship Texas looks rather nude without a couple of Kingfishers
on her cats as well...
Very nice pics Sulaco! I had the good fortune of visting Chile back in the
mid 70's..lovely country. Great wine and the ski slopes were managed by
Teuton ex-pats...

The name on the bow is Manutara (a tern found on Easter Island) . The restoration is all the more remarkable because until very recently this aircraft was derelict in Santiago and had been in outdoor storage for years acting as a source of spare parts for other Catalinas of ASPAR.

Very impressive collection and display. Everything looks immaculate! It would be a treat to see that Kingfisher in person.

Yes David you are right, the PBY have the paint of the MANUTARA the first aircraft to fly to Chilean EASTER ISLAND.
The only airplanes that fly are the N3N, Stearman, Tiger Moth, At-6, and a Fokker DR-1 Replica.
And yes the Spitfire is a replica, with the DR-1, the SE-5a, and the Avro 504, these are the only replicas.

The Miles Hawk would be my favorite.
Unusual armament configuration on that A-26.
Those five airplanes are the "only" ones that fly? If I am right in understanding that this is a government-owned collection, that still beats what most other countries do.

This one was an exchange for a B-26, a couple of years ago.
Here another one of the Spitfire.
and the Kingfisher
In the late 60s the Chilean Air Force change all Bombers nose of B-26s to Gun Nose (6) .50.
And Yes they are working at last, alot of airplane where use as target practice Before and lost for ever, B-25, Dauntles, fock wulf, nardi, JU-86..........
