What about Gary Larkins & The Air Pirates?

Fri Aug 28, 2009 7:19 pm

Hello,
I just finished reading Carl Hoffman's wonderful book "Hunting Warbirds". It was a real "swash buckling" adventure book. Putting aside all the stories it had, I was kinda curious about what ever happened to Gary Larkins & the Air Pirates. I know he was tasked with the static "restoration " of the B-17E "My Gal Sal" for the Ultimate Sacrifice memorial in Ohio. Also I heard about the Hollywood movie that was supposed to involve him (but apprently never was made). I checked his web site but it is now down. So I turn to the WIX.....to find the rest of the story. Also did any of the parties mentioned ever recover the "Kee Bird" B-29 remains after it burnt up? (I bet Gary A. has a few stories about that)

The subject comes up every few months or so...to my knowledge nothing recovered yet. But I vaguely remember
some folk(s) wishing they had their stuff back which was loaned to get Kee back in the air. Over to those in the know...
