Hi all

Some friend of mine just droped around and he is writing a script for a comic. Well, the illustrator really dug this seaplane he saw on you tube and he asked me if I knew something about it.

I've got a magazine article on french magazine Fana de l'Aviation from the 90's and was wondering if someone could add something so I could help him around.

If anyone also knows interesting details or histories about this particular type I would be most obliged to know about them also.

many thanks!

Only info I have is that I saw it twice, Once in 1975 at the Pratt & Whitney 50th Air display and again in 1978 at the Wings and Wheels musueum when it was still in Orlando.
Beautiful bird and great footage.

So, thats what became of 'ROVER' Bill Boeings model 18, where is it at now? He traded the 18 in for a new 'ROVER' a DC-5.
Anyone know where the DC-5 is?

Rover was taken over by the Navy as an R3D-1 and scrapped post-WWII  .

thanks for all replies. I had already seen that one Mark, it shows up in google when looking for the Dolphin ;) Nice one.

What really surprised me on this aircraft was it's distinctive landing gear system.

The Dolphin is at the Naval Air Museum in Pensacola.

Is there some archive for Douglas aircraft? I mean, is it probable that Boeing has some photos of this plane? There was one that was modified for a french milionaire, with a inside bar, maybe there are some photos of it somewhere?

best! nice pointer on the Pensacola Museum.
