Meet Kermit.

A 1945 Aeronca Champ that started out as a 7AC and was converted to a 7BCM.
That means it has an electric starter, a radio, and a transponder.
It is the upgraded "high power" C-85 hp Continental.

I just flew it from Culpepper. Virginia to Pearland, Texas and had all the diversions one would expect from weather and limited range and other adventures.
It took about 22 hours of flight time... I flew 19 and me Bro. flew about 3 hours, but there were exciting diversions.

AND I HATE OTHER PEOPLE'S DIGITAL CAMERAS!!!
I had a picture of Kermit on the ramp at Meridian, Mississippi MEI with five Navy T-45s from McCain NAS but my brother's digi-camera went tits up! :D

Fantastic! And I must say, your airplane is the same color I am right now - green with jealousy!

Very cool, Congrats!! Wonder if I could have driven that route faster!? Wouldn't want to be out in heavy weather in Kermit, that would be a bit rollercoaster. What are the plans for paint? Or is the color the reason you bought it?

Way to go Spanner. Now tell us you're NOT going to keep her that color. That, in itself, is probably very close to being a violation of some "gubmint" regs.

Mudge the colorful

This is my first 100% owned plane.

I was partners in a Jet Provost Mk5A for awhile.
Talk about fun, but impractical for my level of experience.
Now that you mention it, I saw one under a tarp in Moore-Murrell, Tennessee during a fuel stop.

As to Kermit's color... It's not easy being green, but he is going to stay that color until somebody else's watch.

I cannot think of a faster way to delay building hours than to do a color change, especially on an airplane tht does not need it.

Amazingly enough there are three or four Airknockers at Clover Field Pearland.

I am trying to get a demo team together. :D

The Fabulous Furry Airknocker Brothers!

SPANNER

PS- Ah Gary... ever mindful of the important things in life!

Congrats! Now, if you paint it British Racing Green and replace that engine with a Gypsy, you will feel right at home! Of course you could always stick some of those South American RR valve covers on the engine. :union: :D

Why does the title of the thread say that you're a warbird owner?
