Does anyone have any updates on the B-17 restoration at the Mighty 8th Air Force Museum?

The Cockpit is out and instrument panel being restored. We are polishing the outer skin so it will be ready once the markings are painted ( which may be anytime now ). Tom Reilly has been a regular visitor to give us advise. It will remain natural aluminum and will not be OD green. We have sent the markings sketch of the " City of Savannah " off to the 388th BG to get their sign off on accuracy.

I am on the Saturday polishing crew ( although I have only been one time so far due to family committs ) . I will take some photos next time I go in. Should be in a couple of weeks.

Pretty good. It will take some time ( and money) but we are getting allot of support and help from those in the aviation restoration community. We have been found. When she is done she will be open to the public so they can see what the crew positions, etc looked like. This will be especially fun in educating our young visitors. The visual hands on stuff usually sparks a young person's interest.

That is a VERY cool idea of what to do with this B-17. While that would not work with the Belle or Swoose, this B-17 is perfect for that.
