I was just over at the local Borders book store.
(I dont read books, Shannon drags me there!) :o
I was doing my usual, looking at all the magazines and stuff. (Gotta have pictures!) :?

The issue of Flypast said that a two seat Saab Viggen will be delivered to the CF for preservation?

Preservation as a flyer I hope! That would be COOL to see at airshows.

Looks like it, it's already been deeded to the Foundation. It's the last flying Viggen in Sweden. It's an SK which is the two place.

The proposed Viggen is one of the two last airworthy aircraft, SK 37E two-seated ECM version. The other will hopefully keep flying with the Swedish AF Historic Flight.

I don’t think the Swedish authorities will allow it to fly overseas ‘just like that’. However, they didn’t want the Drakens or Lansens to fly in the US either...

(I believe I have some shots of the Viggen ‘family’ in action: www.daniel-k.com)

Strange.........you would have thought that if they intended to keep one airworthy with the AFHF, and I hope they do, it would have made sense to keep the other one as well as a back-up reserve airframe in storage...??

If they don't won't a Viggen flying outside of Sweden there must be plenty of other already retired examples that could have been donated...??

that thing is sweet. an original swedish design, no big boy influence in that design either. the swedes have always been very inovative in aircraft design, never ripping off other countries technology.

Caroline Collings spearheaded the donation of the Swedish fighter to the Foundation...since she is Swedish...it was quite the coup.
