In July 07, I noticed parts of an F-84 in a VFW parking lot in West Chicago, IL.

In December 07, it was painted and stored as seen in these photos. I had not seen the wings in July.

A few days back, I passed by and got the following pix with my phone.

There has never been anyone around to ask any questions, but from the recent tire tracks the mounting was very recent. I have a few more pix from Dec. 07 and will take a real camera next time I go that way if anyone is interested.

Thanks for the pics Steve.

"If anyone is interested" - now what kind of silly question is that around here?! :)

More pictures please!

Looks cool. Also, your camera phone takes pretty good pictures.

Speaking of F-84Fs, can anyone in the Austin, TX area provide a photo or more infomation on this Joe Baugher entry that has puzzled me for sometime:

>Republic F-84F-20-RE Thunderstreak s/n 51-1517 - wreck noted at Balcones Residential Center, Austin TX

Anyone??

seems to me that Bergstrom used to have a F-84 on display, last time was home I drove by and saw online and RF-4 and a UH-1 near the old base housing area.

It sure looks a WHOLE lot better up on that pole than in that parking lot. Looks like they did a pretty good job. Thanks for the pics

viking 73, thanks for the inspiration, I jumped on my bike today and rode out for some more photos.

Some more from Dec. 07

Here are some from today with a better camera. Sorry I've not yet learned to edit yet so they are a bit dark.

Django, it's on 59 about 1/2 mile north of downtown W. Chi.

tex-fan, Yes they did a very nice job, but I have wondered what was going on behind the scenes while the pieces sat on racks in the parking lot for 1 1/2 years. Not complaining though.

I have some pix of another F-84 at the Russell museum I will post in a different thread with some of the other things there. I can't find that it has been mentioned here before. Has it?

Steve
