Can anyone ID aircraft 1 and 2 in this photo please?
3 is a UC-64, and 4 is a B-17G for scale.
Apologies, that's the clearest I can get the photo.
Thanks in advance,
Paul

Looks like it could be P-47 Thunderbolts. This is based on the wingspan and I think I can see an elliptical shape to the wings..

Maybe
1-P-39
2-P-40

1 and 2 don't look the same to me and 1 looks like a zero to me...

One could well be a P-47, one could be an A-35B, or they could be visiting P-51s.

Number 1 looks like a P-39 to me.

Sorry guys, I should have mentioned this photo was taken of an 8AF bomber base in England, early-mid spring 1945(ish).
At that time the base had, in addition to the Group's B-17s, a P-47 for formation assembly observation, an A-35B for target towing, and a UC-64 as a general liasion aircraft. I was hoping that these were what the photo showed.
All the best,
PB
