This beautifull machine is so good shaped and manufactured that even on the excellent images I have, archive, is not possible to see much of the surface details. Is any close up images available, maybe from advanced stage of prototype work or much better if any sample is still preserved.

Cheers :P

1 prototype was built flown and lost to a fire on landing, the second prototype was scrapped along with the remains of the first....the end.

A really cool looking aircraft, but unfortunately one of the many unsuccessful designs that are now just a memory. On the plus side, while the Bat (I've always heard it referred to as the "Moonbat") didn't proceed past the prototype stage, the program helped the fledgling McDonnell Aircraft Company get its start. So if it hadn't been for the Moonbat, we might never have gotten the F-4 Phantom, one of the greats.

Actually, I have to give credit where it's due..that conclusion was made in an article on the XP-67 that I read in an old issue of "Airpower" magazine. 8)
