I remember when a surplus AJ-2 transited thru KBFI going to somewhere as a potential firebomber in the early 60's. I crawled all over it and had a ball, I know it was a -2 because everthing except the jet engine and tail pipe were still on it including all the stencilling, it was next to a couple of TBM's also going to a fire outfit but was too young to ask detailed questions of the guy working on one of the TBM's.

I wouldn't be surprised to find out that the AJ2 you crawled through years ago is the same one at the USNAM in Pensacola. It was supposed to haven been used as a fire bomber sometime before AVCO Lycoming purchased it as an engine test bed.

Looks like 34 on the island to me, instead of 31. In that case, the carrier is the Oriskany.

I would just love to see her moved inside, I think about my family, her , then my house every time a storm threatens.
