Mexican Group Saves F-105

Wed Jun 24, 2009 8:18 pm

Hi everyone,

my friend Andre in Mexico just told me about a little airplane recovery he was involved in.

Here's the link below. It's all in Spanish, but the pictures say it all.

I just thought ya'll might like to see the work being done in Mexico to save some aviation artifacts. As Andre told me they were both saved from the scrapper.

Cheers,

David

Hope they move it to an undisclosed location before the USAF swoops in and says their paperwork is not in order and they must scrap it!

Well that makes us look like saps. Look at the cockpit it's 95% complete with no axe holes or grafetti

Wasn't this what Tulio posted about? One they got to be jets with Ffff-100+ numbers, I can't tell 'em apart.

That is because anyone who knows how to use a spray paint can is all ready in the US, just look around any city in the southern US.

According to the thread, the F-105 and the 707 cockpit are being moved to Chapultepec Park in Mexico City, where they also have a B-25 and a DC-3/C-47.

SPEAKING of B-25's in Mexico, anyone have any late breaking news regarding a grouping we were discussing late last year, as I recall?

What is with the police heliopter with automatic weapons at the ready?

ahhhh... forgot.., this is Mexico!

aha!

Very cool story, thanks for the link.., nice to know that our obsession with aircraft is WORLDLY.., even with all the krap that is happening south of the border they take the time and effort to save a piece of their history?.., (not exactly sure why an F-105 from the NJ National Guard plays in their history) but hey.., who am I to argue! Maybe they just love warbirds.., weird obsession

Very cool and would certainly like to see where and how she ends up!

I just noticed that the F-105 in this thread is the slightly older sister to the one that is the topic of discussion in Snyder, TX. This one is 784, while the one in Snyder is 789.

No big deal...I just found it interesting.
