Aviation Art exhibition invite to the WIXer crew ...

Fri Jun 19, 2009 2:51 pm

Hi guys,

Monday I travel to the Savannah, GA area to spend a week at The Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum for the 2009 American Society of Aviation Artists forum. The forum always "kicks off" the annual juried exhibition of the very best in aviation/aerospace artwork. The art will be on display in the museum's gallery June 21, 2009 - January 3, 2010. The museum is very close to the Savannah airport along I-95. Check out the show if you're in the area ~ !

If I get up that way, it is on my to do list! You are such an exhibitionist! Just the one piece in this show?

Oh yes, that's right in the middle of our exhibit so you'll see it for sure.

The museum's art gallery doubles as a 'reception' room, so they've always got events going on in there - wedding receptions, banquets, etc., and the art on the walls is nice 'decoration' for any and all. In fact, I think renting that large room out is a major source of revenue for them, which is great!

And yes, I have 'just' one piece hanging this year, which is all I entered this time. It's my 94th BG B-17G piece "Temporary Reprieve", which can be seen on my site's homepage (see link below). I'm gunning for the "Spirit of 8th Air Force" award this year, given out by the museum staff, but as usual the competition is very stiff as all the art is top-notch; typical of a 'juried' exhibition for any subject genre, and mine won't be the only 8AF painting by far ...

Cheers!
Wade
