Heard a few months ago the Odegaard F2G got sold to a rather reclusive owner and the odds of seeing it nowadays are pretty rare.....anyone seen it since it was sold?

Yep. It's neatly tucked away for invited viewing only. I won't say where out of resect for the owner but I'm sure some other Wixers know the location. It is maintained in airworthy condition but will be flown rarely.

Chris, do you know if he needs any spare engines for it? I've got two, overhauled and in the cans, that are the same dash number that was used to make the modified engine for that very airplane.

Sorry for the unsolicited panhandling here, but I sure would like to find a good home for those engines and that Corsair would be a good one for them. :-)

A few years ago at Oshkosh they were selling really nice F2G t-shirts. Does anyone know where a guy can get a few more?

The gentleman who owns Race 57 now might be interested in engine spares, and can certainly afford them, but probably does not need them: I'd bet the gent who now owns Race 74 needs that stuff more, as last I heard that airplane was to be flown upon completion. (Sad that the two Cleland team F2Gs will likely never be seen together in flight.)

Very glad I went to Thunder the year the group of racers was there; that was the only time I saw #57, and I'm unlikely to see her again. From what I know of the current owner, he isn't "reclusive", just exceedingly private and very choosy about whom he shows his treasures...

Then Ill have to say thats a terrible fate for such a great aircraft. Being around that aircraft and seeing it race at Reno was one of the highlights of my ramp rat life.

Not necessarily a terrible fate, at least it's not stuck up on a pole :hide:! As long as it's well cared for, it will likely be back on the market at some point in the future.

Thanks Spooky - that wasn't the sight but after a little Googling I found them: bigironaviation.com Just had to order one. Too bad the airplane won't be seen much anymore. Mr Odegaard does beautiful work.

Bob used to bring it to the WOTN show every other year or so. I didnt realize it is a dual control until last year on the flight line before he left.
