On June 6th, 2009, Vintage Wings of Canada will hosted the first of two Open House events this summer. The attendance was much more than I have ever seen before and quite a large number of aircraft visitors flew in for the one day event. The flying part of the program took part in the early part of the day and the rest of the day was perfect for just wandering around meeting old friends and taking a few hundred pictures.

The new P40 restoration still fresh from NZ drew quite along of attention. Still awaiting paperwork and some engined :( related issues before she will fly..

Here are a few pictures taken though out the day...nice to see quite a few new to the event visiting aircraft...

Weather was ideal and planes were everywhere...

Cheers Andrew

Andrew,

Let me say how much I admire your photographic artistry. Of course the fact that I own the Fairchild, and will be flying the Kittyhawk, is immaterial.

Unfortunately the Fairchild is still there. I have to pull a cylinder and re-install an exhaust stack stud before I can bring it back. To be expected from time to time, I suppose, when you're re-activating an older machine.

Thanks Dave for the kind comments....

Your Fairchild is a beauty indeed...would have loved to see her in flight with all the other classics on Sat but alas sometimes vintage aircraft can be a bit fussy. I do find some aircraft are more photogenic than others and that P40 will certainly look very nice once she gets some air under her wings.....still a great event on Sat indeed...

Cheers
Andrew

Wow, nice pictures indeed ! I recognized a few friend's aircraft in the lot. I would have gone too with NCJ but was in Las Vegas with my wife...

Next time !

Took this one of Dave just as he was about to taxi out to display the Prince's Fox Moth on Saturday.

Thanks for the great photos!

What is that on the exhaust of the yellow T-6? Is that some sort of muffler?

Sort of. It's a Harvard, which utilized that long stack in order to provide heat inside the cabin.

For those of us who were around at the end the road runner did some neat passes. OK I know it isn't a warbird but sure performs like one!
