I heard on another forum that there is a P-38 in Goderich, ON that came in today or yesterday to be painted. I have no idea whos plane it is or how long it will be there. I sent to guy who posted this an email about it this evening so I can find out more about it. Does anyone on here have any info? My dad and I are thinking about going up in 2 weeks to check it out.

That's a fur piece from Texas to get a paint job. Could of had it done in the bunker.

I found out some info from one of the guys up in Goderich. He can't release the name of the owner due to part of the contract, but he did say that it is for an overseas customer. The paint was stripped off of the plane over the last two weeks and then was flown back to the US for some maintenance and repairs. In a few weeks it will be flown back up to Goderich to be painted. I'll be going up sometime after it gets back into Goderich to get some pictures.

No offense intended Ryan but I'm guessing your source has probably got his facts confused. I have no idea what P-38 they have, though if I had to guess I would also say it's probaby the ex-LSFM bird. It would be a pretty difficult task to keep a flyable P-38 a secret from this group, much less make a transatlantic crossing with it. As far as I am aware, other than the Red Bull airplane, there has not been a flyable P-38 outside of the US since the demise of the TFC airplane. I would, however, absolutely love to be proved wrong! :)

Pat, he said FOR a overseas customer, not FROM a overseas customer.

Yes, it isn't from overseas, it is being done for an overseas customer. So once it's done it's going overseas, unless like Chad said my source has the facts wrong. When I go up there in a few weeks I'll try to find out as much info as I can.

Hey guys first time post, I live right behind the Goderich Airport and have confirmed there is no lightning there. There is a lightning coming in that we heard about when the seafury that resides at the CWH stopped in for gas leaving Oshkosh last year
There is however a P-51 due to leave next monday or tuesday, if I get pictures i`ll be sure to post them. Sorry not sure what one it is but apparently it is a combat veteran

Tom Blair - current owner of the P-38 "Putt Putt Maru" is a UK citizen and lives, at least part of the time, in England though his "stable" of aircraft is kept with Stallion 51 in KISM.

His "commuting" plane back and forth from home to the "colonies" is (or was) a Global Express with a spitfire silhouette painted on the underside of the plane...

I thought Tom Blair sold it 6 months or more ago together with the Spitfire V?
