I believe the story on the P-40 mockups was that they were built around 15-20 years ago for a stillborn Flying Tigers movie project, long before Pearl Harbor.

Then why would all of them seem to appear to be E models?

I was driving through Mojave just yesterday. I passed the road sign pointing to California City. I wished I knew about it before yesterday. Oh well.

Mike

P.S. The phrase "in the middle of no where" came to mind a few times on that drive.

First pic of the P-40s near the top of the page - one wears what definitely looks like a Flying Tigers artwork on the fuselage side.

Thanks for the link. Good to see that former Coast Guard HC-131A 52-5784 is still around. Is there really a "CALIFORNIA MUSEUM OF AIR AND SPACE" there?

Mike,

When I was out in that neck of the woods in March, the same phrase came to mind a lot.

I saw that too! I don't know what he meant by that.

"What is wrong with you guys at WIX, don't you know the disposition of every warbird and replica on the face of the earth at any given time?"

Sorry...Bud! I do know where one is....LOL. At the front gate at Dyess.

Does anybody know anything about these?

Where was that dis posted?
Obviously not here on WIX.
I don't do a lot of checking for stuff on other sites because I haven't found a better one than WIX.

The guy's name who owns them is John Fishman or commonly known as "Fish". He has all sorts of junk up there (cool junk). I know he would like to sell, rent, lease (or whatever) those P-4o's. He hangs out with us at the Condor Squadron every week. He is a nice guy.
