while I was in the Area of San Antonio 5-13-09, I was traveling north on 181 out of Floresville, and "approximately" 2 maybe but probablely less than 5 miles south of I-37, I got a quick look at what appeared to be a C-7 in Olive Drab paint minus wings vertical and hotizontal stabilizers lying on her port side. She would have been on the right side of the road as you travel north on 181 toward I-37. I was on my way to the airport and had no time to pause to look at her, but I am sure it was a Caribou, Don't know if she is going to be scrapped er what. Anyone in San Antonio that has the time to see if you can find her? I need a photo and info Thanks in advance.

I think what you saw is here:

29 17 52.13 N 98 22 07.11 W

It is an aircraft fuselage lying on its port side, minus wings and tail surfaces. There are what appears to be many aircraft parts lying in the immediate vicinity. Can't see it clearly enough to verify type.

Trying to get someone to go by and take photos. Notice something unidentified in the trees north of this airframe. Maybe they have already destroyed an amfib and floats go to something else. Wings appear camo to me. Will let you know what I know, when I know, so you'll know what I know, when I know it, truss me, I want to know what this is.

Just did a Google search on the CL-215 and the Albatross. Neither one of them has a door on the right side, like the fuselage pictured does. And the one pictured has no cutouts in the fuselage for landing gear. So I'm not sure if any of our guesses are correct so far.

Assuming the floats are for something else, it almost has a Grumman Tracker look to it.

Ha! Funny you should mention Tracker...I was just about to post about a Tracker I used to see in Floresville
about 15-20 years ago. The fuse rested alongside a building on the north side of 181.

In "downtown" Floresville about 25 yrs ago there was a C-119 tailboom behind another business in the
deep brush.

If I make it to Kingsbury next month to sniff the castor and flog my ears I'll have to check it out to see if any
goodies are still there.
